The wine displays more elegance and lift through the cooler Eden Valley fruit which adds terrific aromatic lift, interest, and freshness. This is a contemporary Barossa Shiraz having spent maturation time in older oak adding subtle vanilla and chocolate nuances.
There’s softness on the finish while maintaining freshness and vibrancy. Pair with a classic beef and mushroom pie.
Little Giant Shiraz is crafted from fruit sourced from select premium vineyards of both the Barossa Valley and Eden Valley. Picked in the cool of the morning to retain freshness, the fruit is de-stemming and fermented in stainless steel tanks.
The wine then spent nine moths in used large format French and American oak barrels to build structure whilst softening the palate and develop flavour complexity without overt extraction of oak characters.
It might be a little wine, but it’s got giant flavour. It’s an unlikely emblem for such a successful wine, but it’s the combination of the short stumpy bottle and the eye-catching wombat on the label that has made this such a perennial favourite. Fruit sourced from South Australian vineyards have created a wine with a cult like status.
