Description

Ata Rangi, meaning “dawn sky” or “new beginning” in Maori, is a small, family-owned Martinborough producer. Founder Clive Paton is one of the pioneers of Pinot Noir in New Zealand, planting his first vines on the stony terrace in 1980.

Winemaker Helen Masters focuses on traditional winemaking techniques, with organic practices undertaken in the vineyards, to produce the finest quality wines that best reflect the terroir and features of each season. Ata Rangi was honoured in 2010 with the inaugural Tipuranga Teitei o Aotearoa or “Grand Cru of New Zealand,” one of only two New Zealand estates to have received this accolade.
