A rare variety in the Barossa, the perfumed mulberry, musk and spice notes of Graciano make for a dry and mouth-watering Rose.

Pale salmon. Pungent aromas of rose petal, red apple skin and musk fill the glass. The refreshing palate follows with delicate flavours of mulberry, watermelon, and pink lady apple. Well-balanced acidity ensures a clean and crisp finish.

A rare red variety in the Barossa, our Rosé crafted from the Spanish varietal Graciano, was born from a twist of fate. A neighbouring grower was left high and dry for a home for his Graciano, after his corporate supply contract was cancelled just days before it was due for picking. We took it in more as a favour at the time, but discovered it to be a fascinating varietal.

Its skin colour is extremely concentrated and it has naturally high tannin, making it challenging to craft a lightly coloured Rosé from. Its natural acidity however and alluring Mulberry and musk notes compelled us to treat it gently, to craft a salmon-hued, dry and mouth-watering wine.

About Gibson Wines

Gibson Wines was established in 1996 and draws on over 45 years of experience of its founder; viticulturist, geologist and winemaker, Rob Gibson.

Surrounding an 1850s Blacksmith’s cottage, Gibson’s home property in Light Pass – Northern Barossa – features a 7 – acre patch of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. These vines are planted under the Gibson-Schulz trellis system, a unique method co-invented by Rob. The vines are alternately planted on a low and high cordon wire, the latter reaching nearly two metres in height.

Alongside these estate vineyards, relationships forged by Rob over four decades with multi-generational Barossa grape growing families, provides Gibson with enviable access to some of the region’s most precious fruit. Crossing all compass points of the region, Gibson’s grower relationships are key. Not only in providing a multitude of complexity in the end wines, but as a means of supporting a sustainable, integrated wine growing community.
