A very fresh and bright nose of green fruit, white flower and citrus nuances leads to cool, refreshing and vibrant middle weight flavors blessed with a light mineral streak on good detail and punch on the solidly long finish.

Allen Meadows writes: “I tasted this time with director Brice de La Morandière along with new régisseur (estate manager) Pierre Vincent who was hired away from Domaine de la Vougeraie (see below). They told me that 2016 ‘gave us a lot of difficulty with the frost and mildew but we managed reasonably well under the circumstances. While May and June weren’t great, thereafter we enjoyed fine conditions that allowed the vines to bring the remaining fruit to excellent maturity.

Description

Domaines Leflaive

The fabulous expression of the chardonnays is far from being limited to Puligny-Montrachet.

This is why, we decided to develop an extension of our estate in the Maconnais. We also decided in the last few years to develop partnerships with carefully selected vignerons in the Cote Chalonnaise and the Cote de Beaune.

In our Macon vineyard, we apply the same philosophy of the Domaine and all our vines are worked in biodynamically, by our dedicated team. The harvest is manual and the musts transported to Puligny-Montrachet for fermentations and élevage in a specific cellar. The wines are located in Macon-Verzé, Macon-Solutré, Pouilly-Fuissé and are sold under the brand name ‘Domaines Leflaive’.

In addition, we wanted to develop long-term partnerships with winegrowers who share the same demanding philosophy of vine and wine. All vines are farmed biodynamically by individual vignerons, and the vine made by the domaine Leflaive team. The appellations are: Rully 1er cru for Côte Chalonnaise, Auxey-Duresses, Bourgogne Blanc for Cote de Beaune. They are sold under the brand name ” Leflaive et associés ”.

In order to distinguish between Domaine Leflaive in Puligny Montrachet and the Domaines Leflaive in Macon and for long-term partnerships, we have created a specific identity that draws on our common history and that you see below
