A very pretty aromatic wine with dark cherry and florals on the nose, violet and thyme. Soft, plush and long with boysenberry and blackberry and an extraordinarily long finish. Incredibly moreish with a finish that goes on for minutes. Medium to full bodied. Extraodinary seamless balance given it is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Reviews and Awards

“Complex aromas of lead pencil, tobacco, blackberry, cigar box, dried herbs and brambles. Firm and structured with plenty of grippy, granular tannin rigour and lively acidity. The palate is full-bodied with blackberry, blackcurrant and dark cherry flavours, a touch of leafy menthol and plenty of savouriness. This has power and elegance and a layered sophistication to it. Built for the long-haul.” Huon Hooke, The Real Review, 95 Points

“Winemaker Clive Otto is a good fellow, though likely doesn’t suffer fools gladly, which probably leaves me in a precarious state. This is the Big Show. It’s 2018 Margaret River in full flight, with dark fruit, baking spices, fennel seed, and chocolate. Rich and plush, almost a Napa Valley opulence here, ripe and sticky tannin, plenty of nougat oak, tobacco, freshness, and gravelly tannin running on a long and ripe spicy finish. Bold. Needs time, but very good.” Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, 95+ points

“Impressive cabernet with a complex, youthful nose that offers aromas of cedar, mint, fresh roasting herbs, red cherries, blueberries and spiced chocolate. Juicy palate with plenty of fleshy blueberry and red-cherry punch on entry, building evenly to a cedary finish. Drink or hold”. James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, 94 points

“Rich and complex nose with aromas of cedar, toasted spice, mint, and rosting herbs as well as redcurrant, blueberry, cherry and chocolate. The palate has a sleek and juicy feel with bright red berry fruits on offer.” Nick Stock, Australian Gourmet Traveller Wine, 94 points

Description

Established in 1999, Fraser Gallop Estate comprises 50 acres under vine on an elevated aspect six kilometres from the south west coast of Western Australia at the heart of the Wilyabrup sub-region of Margaret River.

The region’s pristine isolation beside the Indian Ocean; the maritime climate; and our vineyard’s undulating topography provide the ideal conditions in which to grow Bordeaux and Burgundy grape varieties.

The wines of Fraser Gallop Estate are intensely flavoured, textured and complex. Our focus is on Cabernet, Chardonnay and Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc blends. Only the finest quality French oak barrels are used for all Fraser Gallop Estate wines, with very specific Bordelais coopers used for the Cabernet Sauvignon and Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blends, and Burgundian coopers for the Chardonnay. The complete winemaking process takes place at the estate – picking to vinification to barrel maturation to bottling to cellaring. Fraser Gallop Estate is an estate grown, produced and bottled wine.

Partners in Wine WA

Kirk and Rebecca welcome you as a Partner in Wine! We are a couple of West Australians who met over a bottle of wine, and whose love developed like a full-bodied red. Before long we found our weekends planned around West Australia’s diverse wine regions in an attempt to uncover smaller, niche wineries and the hidden gems amongst their delectable wine creations.

Like you, we appreciate good times and great wine – enjoyed with friends and loved ones – and our journey has taken us through each of the beautiful wine regions of this great state, sampling thousands of wines along the way.

Many WA wines are highly rated by the likes of James Halliday – Australian wine critic, winemaker, and senior wine competition judge – and many prestigious national awards are bestowed on our state’s wine produce each year. WA’s wine is world renowned and highly sought after, but at the same time a large number of boutique wines are hard to come by in major stores, with the winemakers choosing to sell only through their cellar door.

We choose small, WA-only boutique wineries so that you can sample a special drop from our own backyard. Every wine we have tasted and personally endorse, so join us for a taste of WA. Let your winery trail begin – from the comfort of your own home!
