A lovely complex, spicy cool climate shiraz. The fruit aromas are berry and plum complimented by start anise spices. There’s an earthy and meaty note to the bouquet that adds complexity. The palate is full of drive: a lovely combination of spiciness, complex flavours and fine tannins for a long finish.

93 Points: August, 2023 > Halliday Wine Companion > Jeni Port
Super ripe by Beechworth standards and revelling in lashings of black fruits, plum, bramble, allspice, star anise and gentle oak-derived vanilla notes. Generous and sweet-fruited, it brings a full-on, cool climate spice attack to the palate. Fine-meshed tannins provide the brakes, slowing down the middle palate, providing a moment of depth with an added touch of undergrowth and smoked deli meats before heading to the finish line.

Description

The Indigo Vineyard is located near the hamlet of Everton in the foothills of the Victorian Alps. The region enjoys beautiful views, fine dining, wonderful local produce, historic Beechworth streetscapes and is recognised for outstanding Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The hot days and cool nights, granitic sand and clay loam soils and a location in foothills of the Victorian Alps combine to create an amazing terroir for growing super premium grapes.

Located between Beechworth and Wangaratta, the Indigo Vineyard has 46 hectares planted to 11 different varieties of grapes.

The vineyard soils range from granitic sands to clay loams. Most of the vineyard is undulating North-South and East facing. This ensures maximum light interception, but minimises the harsh afternoon summer sun.
