A light oaked style with a lovely bright yellow/ green colour with aromas in the citrus/ tropical spectrum.

Oxidative handling resulting in low phenolics and ultimately greater complexity. A combination of pure yeast ferments, with small parcels of wild ferments. Gentle pressing of the grapes and minimal handling resulted in a juice of wonderful purity. Fermentation was in stainless steel with only 15% receiving oak treatment.

This expression of Chardonnay shows the full tropical and stone-fruit range of flavours. Round and mouth-filling it is fruit-forward and full bodied without relying on oak influence for flavour. The Umpires Decision Chardonnay is already enjoyable in its youth for its big, fresh flavour.

Description

The Indigo Vineyard is located near the hamlet of Everton in the foothills of the Victorian Alps. The region enjoys beautiful views, fine dining, wonderful local produce, historic Beechworth streetscapes and is recognised for outstanding Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The hot days and cool nights, granitic sand and clay loam soils and a location in foothills of the Victorian Alps combine to create an amazing terroir for growing super premium grapes.

Located between Beechworth and Wangaratta, the Indigo Vineyard has 46 hectares planted to 11 different varieties of grapes.

The vineyard soils range from granitic sands to clay loams. Most of the vineyard is undulating North-South and East facing. This ensures maximum light interception, but minimises the harsh afternoon summer sun.
