About LS Merchants

Good fruit is the key to great wine. We work with growers from all over Western Australia to source small, special parcels of unique fruit for our wines.

We like to push the boundaries of conservative winemaking and employ techniques learnt at home and abroad over the last 10 years to deliver interesting and thought provoking wines. Wine is subjective, we’re not here to tell you what you’ll experience but to guide you on the way so grab a bottle of LS Merchants and lets go!

We are not natural winemakers. We follow a minimal intervention approach to winemaking, aiming to express the individual vineyard sights (terroir) through wine that is an expression of the vintage and growing season. We believe that less is more, letting the juice do its thing. Natural yeasts are encouraged to thrive however due to the weather, temperature and natural factors, sometimes the fermentation process needs a hand. Some wines are fined and filtered, some are not.

In a perfect growing season, with perfect fruit, it’s easy to let nature take its course but in tougher years where it’s extremely hot, wet or humid, the wines may need a little help but they will always be a reflection of the vintage.

Sulphur is naturally present in grapes and a lot of fruits and vegetables we eat. We do add minimal amounts of sulphur if/when we need to and always a bit before bottling to help preserve what we, along with nature have created.

We source our fruit from likeminded growers who are passionate about the varieties they grow and want to see them made into great examples of those varietals.

We name the growers on our labels and make sure we pay them on time. Owning a vineyard is tough work all year round and we appreciate all the work they do.
