The 2020 Cliff Edge Riesling is sourced solely from the Langi Old Block Riesling, planted in 1975. Langi’s cool climate, together with granite sands and minimal irrigation delivers fruit of purity and stunning natural acidity, creating a wine of great balance and cellaring potential.

An undoubtedly Mount Langi Ghiran Riesling with mixed citrus fruit across the palate. White florals, citrus and minerals add further complexity. The fine acid structure completes this wine, delivering balance and length.

92 Points > Halliday Wine Companion 2022
In keeping with the Cliff Edge style which promotes delicacy, firm acidity and the potential for bottle age. Pretty aromatic spring flowers, grapefruit pith and green apple aromas. Zesty across the palate with a lemon sherbet brightness.

About Mount Langi Ghiran

Established in 1969, Mount Langi Ghiran – Aboriginal for home of the yellow tailed black cockatoo – is set amongst the dramatic backdrop of the Great Dividing Range in the Grampians region of Victoria, producing iconic cool climate wines.

One of the most beautiful vineyards in Australia, Mount Langi Ghiran is set against the backdrop of the rugged granite cliffs and spectacular mountain forests of the Great Dividing Range. The vineyard encapsulates an extraordinary sense of place and produces some of the finest Australian cool climate shiraz.

With 70 hectares under vine, the Mount Langi Ghiran vineyard is truly unique with the ‘Old Block’ producing one of Australia’s most distinctive and distinguished wines, the Langi Shiraz. Predominantly red grapes with Shiraz being the dominant variety, other varieties planted include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese, Barbera, Grenache, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay and Viognier.

The raw elements of climate, soil, and vine combine to create this unique vineyard which is one of the most isolated in Australia. The weathered granite cliff face and sedimentary soils, the cold prevailing winds forming off the Southern Ocean and the historic vinestock all play a critical role in producing the distinctive flavours of Mount Langi Ghiran wines.
