Orange as a wine region is still small and emerging, specialising in aromatic, cool climate varieties. The stunning region sits at nearly 1000m above sea level, this elevation is a key factor in the regions wine character.

Nick and Tanya purchased Nashdale Lane in 2017 after hunting for the perfect site. Their 24 ha estate lies within sight of Mount Canobolas and they have been farming organically since 2019.

About Nashdale Lane Wines

Nashdale Lane Wines was a dream that started in 1994 in Tuscany, Italy. Sitting in a vineyard in Radda in Chianti having helped with completing their vintage we decided that our own vineyard and winery had to be in our future. We spent many years touring the world experiencing & working in different wine regions always with our minds on our own piece of land to develop our own wines.

Nashdale Lane Wines 60-acre vineyard was established in Orange, NSW, in 2001. Owner Nick Segger is part of a pioneering UK organic fruit and vegetable farming family and along with his wife Tanya, searched for more than a decade before finding the perfect vineyard. The couple settled on the Orange site owing to its distinct cool climate, high altitude and nutrient-rich, basalt soil. The duo are hands-on at the winery, in the vineyard and at the onsite cellar door – a newly refurbished apple packing shed on the property. The vineyard is planted with 8 varieties of grape that include Chardonnay, Shiraz, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Tempranillo and Arneis.

Terroir
The vineyard at Nashdale Lane Wines is managed organically and is elevated at 860-900m above sea level. It has rich, nutrient dense basalt soils and produces a broad range of quality, cool climate styles including: Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Arneis, Shiraz, Tempranillo and Pinot Noir.

Orange High Country
Orange is historically well known as the fruit bowl of NSW but wine production has evolved over the past 50 years and is now the most prevalent primary industries. The area also proudly boasts one the highest rates of organic viticultural management in the country.

As a cool climate wine growing region Orange can also boast a few world-firsts. It is the only wine growing region in the world to denote it’s geographical indication (GI) by regional boundaries and altitude. To use a GI of Orange, NSW the wine must contain fruit grown in the region at elevation 600 m or above above sea level.
