Aromas of white fleshy peach, spring forest blossoms and flint stone, alongside notes of crushed cashews and well integrated oak. A Chardonnay with tension, fresh flavours and acidity while also complex and showing potential to shine with more age in bottle.

The Chardonnay grapes are hand harvested gently into small 15kg crates, then whole bunch pressed with minimal settling into new (30%) and old French oak barriques (228L). Fermentation begins spontaneously with wild yeast from our vineyards and winery, with malolactic fermentation occurring naturally. Wines mature on full lees for 11 months with no battonage. A small dose of sulphur is added at blending, just prior to bottling. No enzymes, no fining, no filtration.

About Ngeringa

Ngeringa is a certified biodynamic vineyard and winery specialising in classic, fine wines that are full of vitality and born of tradition.

Our vineyards are located in the beautiful Adelaide Hills, South Australia, a region reputed for producing some of Australia’s most elegant cool climate wines.

Winemaker, Erinn Klein and co-founder, Janet Klein create Ngeringa wines, oil and vegetables on their farm which they have nurtured with great care. Originally part of the world-renowned Jurlique herb farm, their land has been certified biodynamic for more than 20 years. Ngeringa is one of Australia’s original biodynamic winegrowing pioneers.

Principal Wines

We are wine lovers with no agenda, except to work with people who grow grapes, and to put their wines into the hands of people we respect.

We bring many years’ collective experience working in restaurants and winemaking to Principal Wine and think we have a pretty good idea of how a great glass of wine tastes.

Things change all the time in the world of wine, but our core values always remain the same - to work with people who make their wine in the vineyard, to have fine wine to sell to places we’d like to drink ourselves, and to provide excellent service.
