Vibrant red with pale red hues. A complex array of red fruits -pomegranate, red cherry, alpine raspberr y nestled in with whole bunch aromatics and cinnamon like spices. Air brings some riper notes of maraschino cherr y and ripe plum adding to the sense of depth and concentration.
The palate is mouth filling with satin like tannins that glide across the palate carr y ing those sweet red fruited characters before gi v ing way to the lifted spicy nuances as it finishes. It v ibrant and refreshing yet has both depth and concentration without losing any sense of lightness. A complete wine.
This wine was sourced from the north facing Hazeldene Vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Gladysdale.
A cool, long v intage with abundant rainfall and very low cropping has resulted in wines of great purit y and high natural acidity.
A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine – whole berry / whole bunch fermentation in open vessels for three weeks followed by a 10 month maturation in French oak barrels.
