This is one of Riposte’s single vineyard wines which celebrates exceptional growers and vineyards. There is citrus blossom lift and fresh cut lime on the nose with a palate of lingering lifted citrus flavours with lithe acidity at the finish.

This fruit is from a classic Riesling vineyard sited in the hills at the northern end of Watervale’s famed strip of Terra Rossa soil in the Clare Valley. The vines are trellised on the upright VSP system, while unusual in the Clare Valley, provides excellent flavour development at lower sugar levels due to better exposure of the grapes to sunlight.

Riesling is perhaps the ultimate expression of ‘wine made in the vineyard’. The fruit was crushed, chilled and immediately pressed with all pressings separated. The free run juice was cold settled to clarify it and was then fermented cold in stainless steel tanks and prepared for bottling as early as possible to retain its bright fruit characters.
