Hand-picked from the Timbertop vineyard in mid-April, the fruit was whole bunch pressed off skins to tank where it was cool fermented over 3 weeks. With a delightful pale rose/onion skin colour, aromas of sweet violets and characters of bay leaf, and a touch of spice, it is a delicious, completely dry wine with round savoury flavours.

Hand-picked from L and M Blocks of the Timbertop vineyard in mid-April, the fruit was whole bunch pressed off skins to tank where it was cool fermented over 3 weeks. With a delightful pale rose/onion skin colour, the nose shows an intriguing mix of sweet violets and characters of bay leaf, with a touch of spice. A delicious, completely dry wine with round savoury flavours, with good acidity and just enough fine phenolics to add texture and weight.

About Ros Ritchie

After graduating from Roseworthy at the end of 1981, Ros returned home to Victoria to help establish and set up the Delatite winery. She was the winemaker for Delatite for the next 25 years, producing and growing the range of wines; these included the classic aromatics, methode champenoise sparkling, as well as red varietals and blends.

Many of these wines gained consistent critical acclaim both nationally and internationally, with 13 trophies, 39 Gold, 67 Silver and over 210 Bronze medals.

Over the years she took several opportunities to travel within France, Germany and Italy several times, but especially to Alsace, Baden, the Mosel, Rheingau and Pfalz, whose wines strengthened her passion for riesling and gewürztraminer and stimulated her interest in pinot gris…

This is the venture of Ros Ritchie and husband John. Ros was winemaker at the Ritchie familys Delatite winery from 1981 to 2006, but moved on to establish her own winery with John in 08. They lease a vineyard (merlot and cabernet sauvignon) close to Mansfield and source their white wines from growers who work in tandem with them to provide high- quality grapes. Foremost are Gumbleton, Retief and Baxendale Vineyards, the last planted by the very experienced viticulturist Jim Baxendale (and wife Ruth) high above the King River Valley. All the vineyards are managed with minimal spray regimes.
