Stoney Rise Chardonnay (6 Bottles) Tamar Valley, Tasmania

Interesting Chardonnay in some respects, in that it put me in mind of a Grüner Veltliner. Green apple, some white pepper, daikon, citrus. Juicy and tangy green apple, plenty of crunch, good flavour, fine dusty texture, and green apple, lime and breakfast radish on a nice zesty finish. Good. Easy to smash through a few glasses.

Stoney Rise Wine Company is located in the heart of the Tamar Valley in Northern Tasmania, Australia. It is a family run winery owned by Joe and Lou Holyman.

Beautifully positioned overlooking the kanamuluka (River Tamar), our cellar door and winery is only a 25 minute meander north of Launceston. It is here we dedicate our time to producing some of lutruwita’s (Tasmania’s) best pinot noir and chardonnay.

In 2004 we returned to Tasmania with our sights set on growing and producing the best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay we could. We purchased a vineyard that was planted in 1986 in the Tamar Valley, north of Launceston and set about doing just that. 2008 saw the construction of our winery on site. We have expanded our vineyard in recent years with more Pinot Noir and a little bit of Gruner Veltliner and Trousseau.

We love all things vinous, we take our wines and what we do rather seriously albeit with relaxed personalities we try and have the most amount of fun possible.
