“Deep garnet hue with an array of intriguing aromas including black cherry, cassis, liquorice, mocha, cedar, forest floor and flint. Wow – there is a lot going on! The palate is equally complex with layers of dark fruit, spice and umami that are woven together by a fresh vein of acidity.

The texture is rich and mouth-filling with silky, fine tannins that build in the mouth giving a long, memorable finish. Powerful yet refined, this is quintessential Bendigo Pinot with a tangy freshness that comes from grapes grown at elevation. There is a mysterious element to this vintage that is quite captivating in its youth with promise to evolve and show more character if cellared for up to 15 years” Jen Parr

About VALLI

At VALLI, we craft terroir-driven wines from Single Vineyard sites highlighting the different grape-growing regions of Central Otago and the Waitaki Valley on the South Island of New Zealand. While our foundation is Pinot Noir, we also produce wines from Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Chardonnay. Creating expressions of the Otago sub-regions is at the very heart of what we do: wine is simply the medium we employ to do so.

Valli is the creation of pioneering Otago winemaker, Grant Taylor.

Grant’s name is synonymous with Otago Pinot Noir. He has been crafting wines in the region since 1993 when there were only 20 hectares planted – today there are over 2,000. Over the past 27 years he has made the first wines for a number of iconic Otago wineries, but now the serious focus is on his own creation, Valli.

Founded in 1998, Valli produces single vineyard Pinot Noirs highlighting the different characteristics of Otago’s sub regions: Gibbston, Bannockburn and Bendigo in Central Otago and the Waitaki Valley in North Otago. In 2015, established Otago winemaker

Jen Parr joined Grant in the winery where the two aim to create wines with honesty, integrity, and most of all, a sense of place. When you drink a Valli wine, you are enjoying more than just a wine: you are experiencing a place.

Jen Parr – NZ Winemaker Of The Year 2020

Our winemaker Jen has been named the 2020 New Zealand Winemaker of the year by Australasia’s leading wine magazine Gourmet Traveller WINE. Jen was one of six finalists for the prestigious title last year as well, and received the award at a dinner at Auckland’s Grand Hotel in January.
