A deep, dark and vibrant crimsony red. Beautifully aromatic with lifted, fresh and vibrant spicy fruit characters; soft ripe plums and redcurrants together with hints of raspberry and cranberry. Well flavoured while still being quite delicate and very approachable.

The delicious spicy plum fruit flavours are well integrated after its careful oak handling, all adding to its complexity and depth. The slight astringency and lightly drying tannins add length to the palate and provides its good finish.

A small portion finishes its ferment in new oak barriques; matured in new and used French oak. You have to wonder how any new oak expenditure could be justified by the give away price. Unbeatable now or later consumption with its spicy black fruits and precise tannin control.

West Cape Howe Regional Range Frankland River Shiraz

West Cape Howe was founded in 1997, quickly becoming one of Western Australia’s favourite wine brands. Owned by four Western Australian families, Gavin Berry has been Managing Partner & Senior Winemaker since 2004 and he now has had over 30 vintages in the Great Southern.

West Cape Howe is a family owned winery located in Mount Barker, Western Australia. Rated 5 Red Star Winery by James Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion 2013. Premium quality wines with a focus on ‘good food wines’. Making wines that people love to drink.

The winery is now at the picturesque ‘Langton’ vineyard, in the heart of the Mt Barker wine district. Over time, the partnership has acquired some of the oldest vineyard resources in the state, giving it unequalled access to the best and most consistent quality fruit that the cool Great Southern wine region has to offer.

West Cape Howe has acquired some of the oldest vineyard resources in the state, giving it unequalled access to the best and most consistent quality fruit that the cool Great Southern region has to offer. The five sub-regions range from inland continental conditions – ideal for fine Riesling and cool Shiraz; to coastal maritime conditions – ideal for elegant Chardonnay and classy Cabernet.
