SHIPPING INCLUDED AUSTRALIA WIDE

Deep red colour in the glass. This is a classic Barossa blend of Shiraz (70%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (30%) with loads of dark fruit and dried herbs on the nose, with hints of dark peppermint chocolate. The palate is full of soft dark fruits and tight tannins which indicates that this wine has a long life ahead.

Grown on our Estate at Whistler Wines, Seppeltsfield Road, Stone Well, Barossa Valley. The Shiraz is a combination of our original plantings from 1994, with three different clones of Shiraz- Kalimna 3c, 1654 and BVRC30. The Cabernet Sauvignon is clone D3V14 planted in 1997 on a lovely south-east facing slope with lots of broken quartz in the soil.

WINE MAKING
Traditional open fermentation in old concrete fermenters using wild yeast, foot stomping and gentle basket pressing before going to oak. This wine was matured in 20% new French and American oak hogsheads along with 80% older French and American oak for 18 months before blending and bottling with no fining. The final blend is 70% Shiraz and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.

About Whistler Wines

Grape growing has been part of the Pfeiffer family way of life for four generations, beginning with Albert Heinrich Pfeiffer, who owned a vineyard in the Riverland region of South Australia. Albert would spend many hours in the vines with his son Hubert, working the vineyard in bare feet with his faithful Clydesdale, Bloss, before harvesting the grapes and selling them to local producers.

In 2000, Whistler Wines gained recognition after winning multiple awards including “Best White Wine in Show” for the 2000 Estate Semillon at the Barossa Wine Show and “World’s Top 10 Shiraz” for the 2006 Estate Shiraz from Winestate Awards in 2009.

In 2020, Whistler Wines was named “Best Small Cellar Door” in the Barossa Valley by GT Wine Magazine. Martin & Sally retire as son Sam Pfeiffer takes on the business.
