The fruit for this wine comes from our own and selected vineyards within McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek, South Australia. The ripe grapes are picked in the cool of the night and made to an easy drinking style. Deliberately fruity and full of flavour, Woodstock Rosé makes a perfect drink for a lazy summer afternoon.

We crush the fully ripened Grenache grapes then cold soak the grape skins with their juice for between 4 to 10 hours to extract colour and flavours. After draining from the skins, the juice is treated like a white wine with the sugars slowly fermented down to the desired sweetness level. The fermenting yeast are then stopped by chilling the wine until bottling. This preserves the natural Grenache grape glucose and fructose sugars, rather than adding other concentrated juice. To finish this Rosé, we added a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon red wine to brighten the crimson colour and add some body and tannin.

Vibrant crimson-purple in colour. A flamboyant bouquet of strawberry and raspberry, the palate has a sweet strawberry and cream entry followed by lovely crispness and balancing acidy. The juicy, red berry aftertaste keeps you coming for more. As the wine ages, we find the initial raspberry characters of Grenache evolve into strawberry. The “cream” comes from the natural sweetness giving a creamy texture.

Description

To capture the essence of McLaren Vale we strive for absolute quality, beginning in our old vineyards through every phase of winemaking to the wines before you, wherever that may be. The WOODSTOCK wine portfolio includes a range of sparkling wines, fresh aromatic whites, opulent yet finely structured reds and finally, an eclectic selection of after-dinner wines.

he majority of our wines are sourced from WOODSTOCK Estate, which lies between McLaren Flat and Blewitt Springs, east of the town of McLaren Vale. Winemaker Scott Collett’s close proximity and deep understanding of these vineyards over many years maintains strict quality benchmarks of maximum flavour and intensity for which the WOODSTOCK Estate is known.

Although not yet certified organic, our vines are treated with minimal impact sprays and no pesticides. We tend our vine canopies by hand, and if required the vines are leaf plucked or crop thinned to ensure even ripening and good concentration of berry flavours.
