Encompassing everything our family stands for and the perfect representation of our history and ethos, The Signature is a sentimental favourite. A classic Australian blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, the first vintage release of The Signature was in 1962.

Since then, this outstanding wine has acknowledged more than 57 Signatories; people who have enhanced the traditions and culture of Yalumba.

This Cabernet Shiraz blend shows precise aromatics and is classically rich through the middle palate with exotic florals, cranberry complexity and dark chocolate.

A full-bodied wine complemented with a long, flowing, precise tannin profile. A wine that truly reflects the generosity and refinement of the 2016 vintage. Very stylish.

The majority of the Cabernet Sauvignon components were sourced from four vineyards in the Barossa Valley. The diversity of our vineyard selection provides the rich, lifted Cabernet Sauvignon aromatics and palate structure for which The Signature is renowned.

The Shiraz components include plantings of varying vine age, the oldest were planted in 1925.

Matured for 21 months in 28% new French barriques, Hungarian and American hogsheads, balance in older French, Hungarian and American barriques and hogsheads.

About Yalumba

While the Barossa is our home, we draw on the varied climates and soil types across Australia to make wines grown in some of the country’s finest wine regions.

The Yalumba story started with Samuel Smith venturing across the seas from England to a small town called Angaston in South Australia. He founded Yalumba in 1849, planting the first vine under moonlight with his son, Sidney. His bold, pioneering spirit has passed through the generations, influencing each of Yalumba’s proprietors throughout the years; Sidney Smith, Walter Smith, and Wyndham Hill-Smith, all the way through to our fifth generations proprietor today, Robert Hill-Smith..

Robert led Yalumba into the modern era by cementing our reputation as an internationally-focused and innovative business within the Australian wine industry. He pioneered Viognier in Australia, established Australia’s First Families of Wine and launched Yalumba’s most prestigious wine — The Caley Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz, honouring his great uncle Fred Caley Smith. Robert’s family carries on the legacy set in place by Samuel Smith, continuing to experiment and showcase the best the Barossa has to offer.

Yalumba operates the Southern Hemisphere’s only fully operational Cooperage, crafting bespoke oak barrels that elevate the wines aged within them. Our Nursery is a global leader in wine innovation, growing, evaluating and supplying quality grape vines to the Australian wine industry.
