The two blocks were first planted in Red Hill South in 1985 and are located on a moderate slope, one running north-east and the other facing west. They provide the ideal environment to produce small parcels of fruit that truly express their individual terroir. The property is surrounded by bush and pasture and oversees Western Port Bay and Bass Strait.

Prancing Horse Estate produce three labels of wine that are the result of rigorous barrel selections.
The 'Pony' wines are selected for freshness and varietal and regional typicity. 'Estate' wines are chosen to convey a sense of the site whilst the 'Reserve' wines are chosen when a single barrel is of exceptionally high quality and particularly age worthy in style.

A fascination with Burgundy has resulted in owners, Tony and Cathie Hancy, releasing a range of wines from the world-renowned and coveted region. These bottlings have managed to capture the joy, prestige and mystique this famed grape growing zone has in the world of wine.
The wines are made by two distinguished winemakers, Patrick Piuze in Chablis and Pascal Marchand for the wines from the Côte d’Or. Their skills and local knowledge were critical in selecting vineyard sites and making key decisions around picking and vinification.
These are wines - both local and international - honed by obsession.
