Description
ALTE wines are testament to everything great about high-altitude winemaking. Using only the best parcels of fruit, these single vineyard wines unveil the elegance and purity unique to our cool, sun drenched region in
Orange, NSW
ALTE, An Abbreviation from the Italian ‘Terre Alte’ – High Lands
ALTE wines are grown on ancient terra rossa soils in our renowned Little Boomey vineyard, a 25-year-old estate just 40 kilometres north of the town of Orange. Sitting at a cool 600 metres and enjoying the intense, high-elevation sunshine, this ideal altitude is protected from extreme weather that can affect other vineyards.
About Orange
Set on ancient soil 600 metres above sea-level, our hometown of Orange is the largest and highest cool-climate winemaking region in Australia. The cooler mornings at our high-altitude estate create ideal growing conditions resulting in intense, fruit forward wines.
In addition to having an excellent winemaking climate, Orange is a beautiful town with wonderful architecture and a rich history. Although it sometimes appears to be a quiet country town, Orange comes to life in April when it hosts Orange F.O.O.D Week and in October for the Orange Wine Festival. These events attract people from all over Australia who visit Orange to sample some of the best local wines and produce that the region has to offer.
