Dr. Wes Pearson, originally from Canada, made a remarkable shift from being a professional snowboarder to becoming a winemaker, infusing his adventurous spirit and commitment to craftsmanship into his work in McLaren Vale. His journey in winemaking started in Canada’s Okanagan Valley and Bordeaux, France, before he eventually settled in South Australia. At Juxtaposed Wines, Wes combines his role as a Senior Research Scientist at the Australian Wine Research Institute with a thoughtful and innovative approach to winemaking, resulting in outstanding wines.
Wes is deeply passionate about crafting terroir-driven wines, firmly believing that exceptional wines should reflect the unique characteristics of their vineyards. He promotes minimal intervention in the cellar, allowing the natural qualities of the grapes and their surroundings to shine through. Juxtaposed Wines embraces the diversity of McLaren Vale, producing varieties like Grenache, Shiraz, Fiano, and Sangiovese, with Grenache being Wes’s favorite for its authentic expression of the region’s terroir.
