The 2019 Secret Village Shiraz is a very complex wine which shows the benefits of both a few years bottle age and including some whole bunches in the ferment. Plenty of depth, plenty of complexity. Meaty and earthy aromas, as well as liquorice, spice and blackberry and plums fruit add to the bouquet. The palate is medium bodied: typical of our cool climate Shiraz wines. The mature tannins create a very lingering savoury finish.

This label is reserved for wines which are of exceptional quality and tiny production. The name comes from the camp at Big Hill built in 1875 for the construction of the railway to Beechworth. All that remains is the base of two brick kilns which were used for the construction of the culverts.

About Indigo Vineyard Wines

The Indigo Vineyard is located near the hamlet of Everton in the foothills of the Victorian Alps. The region enjoys beautiful views, fine dining, wonderful local produce, historic Beechworth streetscapes and is recognised for outstanding Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The hot days and cool nights, granitic sand and clay loam soils and a location in foothills of the Victorian Alps combine to create an amazing terroir for growing super premium grapes.

Located between Beechworth and Wangaratta, the Indigo Vineyard has 46 hectares planted to 11 different varieties of grapes.

The vineyard soils range from granitic sands to clay loams. Most of the vineyard is undulating North-South and East facing. This ensures maximum light interception, but minimises the harsh afternoon summer sun.
