Black Ink exists for those who enjoy a bolder blend. A blend of Shiraz, Durif, Cabernet Sauvignon and Touriga. The Shiraz provides the structure for this blend and the Durif provides the lift and boldness.

Beechworth Cabernet Sauvignon lends and elegance and a cheeky splash of Touriga brings everything together.

The grapes for this wine were grown by our friends in Rutherglen and Heathcote and includes some of our own Beechworth Cabernet Sauvignon. After several blending trials, the final blend includes Shiraz, Durif, Cabernet Sauvignon and a seasoning of Touriga.

The aim of the blend is to create a bolder style of wine different in style to our regular Beechworth red wines which are renowned for their elegance.

The palate has the bold entry that characterises Black Ink. It is very complex with a vast range of ripe fruit and leather and a firm structure supplemented by French oak and fuller tannins. For those that enjoy a bolder style of wine, you will find this wine has a bigger, riper structure which is the Black Ink style.

A richer wine like this is your first choice for your best steaks or rich winter dishes. Cassoulet comes to mind, but a good sirloin steak would be perfect. Don‘t forget a rich pepper sauce to finish it off.

About Indigo Vineyard Wines

The Indigo Vineyard is located near the hamlet of Everton in the foothills of the Victorian Alps. The region enjoys beautiful views, fine dining, wonderful local produce, historic Beechworth streetscapes and is recognised for outstanding Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The hot days and cool nights, granitic sand and clay loam soils and a location in foothills of the Victorian Alps combine to create an amazing terroir for growing super premium grapes.

Located between Beechworth and Wangaratta, the Indigo Vineyard has 46 hectares planted to 11 different varieties of grapes.

The vineyard soils range from granitic sands to clay loams. Most of the vineyard is undulating North-South and East facing. This ensures maximum light interception, but minimises the harsh afternoon summer sun.
