Thompson Estate, founded by Jane and Peter Thompson in 1994, is a celebrated winery in the heart of Western Australia’s esteemed Margaret River region. The vineyard saw its first chardonnay and pinot plantings in 1997, with cabernet following in 1998. Today, the estate covers 20 hectares and includes new Burgundian clones of chardonnay, all nurtured with a focus on exceptional quality. This dedication has earned Thompson Estate high accolades, including the prestigious Five Red Star rating from Australia’s leading wine critic, James Halliday.

Peter, a cardiologist, initially applied a “medical specialty model” to winemaking, selecting top specialists for each varietal. However, to streamline production, he built a state-of-the-art winery onsite, producing its first vintage in 2009. Located in Wilyabrup, an area famed for its Bordeaux-like climate, Thompson Estate benefits from abundant sunshine and cooling maritime breezes that enhance grape ripening and flavor intensity.
