Our Belle Ville Rosé is named after the house in Provence that the Lou and Dean Hewitson lived in, close to 30 years ago. In the very early stages of raising their young family, Dean was working at a nearby winery putting his hand to Provençal style, Mourvèdre dominated Rosé. Taking his learnings from this idyllic time, this Rosé is classically made, using traditional Provençal varieties from our home in Barossa Valley. We don’t need to irrigate our vineyard sitting below the winery as it grows as the classic Provencal Mourvèdre: as they say, but in French, “with its head in sunshine and feet in water”.

About Hewitson Wines

1853 was a great year, bringing us Vincent Van Gogh, potato chips, aspirin, Levi Strauss, Balfours, and the release of South Australia’s own currency– the Adelaide Pound.

Hewitson continues to release treasures from 1853 even today. An annual highlight is selecting the best barrels from both the Old Garden and Monopole Vineyards, wines made with exclusively 1853 provenance, to create the BARREL 1853 Shiraz Mourvèdre blend.
