All this fruit is Mt Barker grown, predominately from our Karri Oak vineyard which is alongside the winery. Planted to a number of clones, the vines are now 20 + years old and are proving well suited to the cooler sites on this vineyard. The 2021 season was good for the region; there were generally good crop levels and, with benign conditions & no untoward weather events, all the fruit could ripen fully with good flavour development.

A lovely, bright, ruby red.

Perfumed and already quite complex as a young wine; has attractive, smoky, sweet fruit aromas with musky, berry fruits and some light prosciutto-like characters.

Has good depth of fruit; it’s fresh raspberry and plum fruit flavours are complexed by the slight hint of charry oak after it’s period of maturation in once/twice used French oak. There’s a slight spicy character with a hint of sweet paprika. The wine has lovely palate weight with the very gentle, lightly drying tannins contributing to it’s nice dry finish.
