Midnight Promise

The Estate was purchased in 1998 and developed over the next couple of years.  There are about 5.5 Ha of vines on irrigated VSP trellising.  We have the usual Hunter varieties of Shiraz, Chardonnay and Semillon (with the exception of a small block, all at least 17 years old) and a patch of Viognier.  Our wines are made under contract:  the whites by Bill Sneddon at Allandale and the reds by Matt Burton at Gundog.  Although in good years our total grape harvest is 18.20 tonnes, our wine production, in good years, is only 750-1,000 dozen with production of each style or variety usually in the order of 220-250 dozen.

With the vineyard (especially the Semillon) reaching maturity the wines have been well reviewed.  Our 2013 Shiraz was awarded 5 stars by Winestate (issue November 2015) and the 2014 was awarded 4 stars (same issue).  The 2013 Semillon was awarded 4½ stars by Winestate (September 2015) issue.  All of our wines from 2013 and 2014 have been well reviewed by Huon Hooke.  Our 2015 Semillon was awarded 4 stars and ranked 10th in the top 20 by him!   We have a “second label” Wine O’Clock Series of drink-now wines (Red, White and Rosé) strictly for On Premise Only.
