Stepping outside of Victoria for this one, and what a pretty and fine iteration of Mataro here, Lucy introduced to a fantastic grower of organic Mataro by former colleague Nick from Stoke Wines.

The wine sees 2 weeks on skins and twice-daily pump overs, before pressing to old French oak barrels for 10 months before bottling.

Conceived as a fruit forward, juicy and not overly tannic wine, this is so fresh, slurpy and lively – smoked charcuterie/smallgoods lead the nose, with a lovely fruit spectrum of black plums, blackberry, cherries and a shake of Chinese five-spice. Focused and beautifully textured, fun and flowing, definitely the guzzler of the range.

Lucy
Lucy finished her Masters of Oenology and Viticulture in 2018 at Adelaide University, She has been working in the wine industry for the last 12 years, completing 14 vintages in Chile, France and around Australia. Her experience ranges from retail, importing, vineyard work and winery work, she is now working full time in West Gippsland as a wine maker and viticulturist.

Lucy was born in the UK and moved over to Albury with her family when she was young. Lucy grew up helping her Dad on their family farm near Albury, this is where she found her passion for farming sustainably and working in harmony with the land.

Alysha
Alysha was born in Melbourne and has been working as a qualified florist for the last 12 years in London and Victoria. She has spent most of her career working in events and large scale floral installations. After many years of working in London, Alysha has decided to base herself in West Gippsland with her partner Lucy.

It was here that she found her love and inspiration for viticulture and wine making.

Alysha’s family is from Siracusa and the Aeolian Islands in Sicily. After many trips there, she is constantly inspired by the people, the way of life and most importantly the food and wine.

Our aim is to bring you delicious, thoughtful wines that reflect our industry and culture, from an exciting wine region.

Felixir

Felixir is a Melbourne based wine importer, wholesaler and agent. Drawing on 15 years in fine wine retail, founder Felix Riley was convinced of the increasing popularity of dry rosé and established Felixir in 2013 to focus on finding great examples of the style.

Selections are rounded out with interesting, personality driven reds and whites from Southern France and beyond, supported by a clutch of high quality small Australian, Italian, Slovenian and New Zealand producers. A common factor is delicious wines of interest, representing excellent value whatever their price point, reflecting the places and personalities behind them.
