Barbera is an Italian variety that has been grown in Australia in small qualities since the 1960s. Our Angullong ‘Fossil Hill’ Barbera is a succulent, medium bodied, savoury wine with abundant cherry, raspberry and herb flavours, complemented by textural and balanced tannins.

The variety is eminently suited to our cooler region and should mature well in the bottle over the next five or six years. Enjoy it with a barbequed venison or lamb.

About Angullong

Angullong is a family owned wine company from the premium high elevation, cool climate wine region of Orange in the Central West of New South Wales, located about 350km west of Sydney.

The Angullong vineyards are located on the southern lower slopes of the Orange region at the foothills of Mount Canobolas, an ancient volcano. Angullong’s topography is best described as dramatic. The country ranges from undulating to steep hills with spectacular limestone escarpments that radically descend to the fast flowing Belubula River.

About Orange

The Orange region is classified as ‘cool climate’. This means it has a longer cooler ripening period over the summer as opposed to the warmer regions in Australia.

Its high elevation, combined with long warm days and cool nights, gives a gentler ripening ensuring fruit will develop intense fruit flavours.

As a result Orange region wines are particularly stylish with a unique intensity of flavour, great colour, balance, natural acidity and fine tannins.
