Barolo Undici Comuni is arguably Arnaldo Rivera’s most important wine. Spiced cedar, leather, and scorched earth on the nose. The palate is wild and savory with notes of crushed raspberry, figs, cinnamon, star anise alongside velvety dusty tannins and fresh acidity. It stylish meaty and delicious and super uber Nebbiolo cool. Blending fruit from across the Langhe eleven Barolo villages, it epitomizes the quintessential values of traditional, historic Barolo. While the Arnaldo Rivera single vineyard Barolos are stunning, it is the Barolo Undicicomuni that demands the winemaker greatest attention. He is required to blend different fruit and terroir expressions from diverse villages, just as an artist balances colors to complete his work of art. This means that the Barolo Undicicomuni is naturally Arnaldo Rivera most complex Barolo. A shorter ageing in wood, instead of the 32 months of each cru, allows the wine to be more accessible and suitable for early drinking. A consistently great example of Barolo.

About Arnaldo Rivera Wines

The project – Arnaldo Rivera wines were launched in early 2017, with Barolo vintage 2013. All wines are from exceptional Cru sites. The launch of AR represents a revolutionary moment in Barolo, they are the only winery in the area to produce Crus Barolo in each one of the historic villages of the appellation. Their flagship wine Barolo undicicomuni, a Barolo grande cuvée, actually works as an ambassador of the whole region, consisting of 11 villages… pretty cool and very delicious!! The winery has signed an agreement with the most prestigious vineyards in order to harvest grapes of the very highest quality.

The man – Arnaldo Rivera was born on December 13th 1919 in Castiglione Falletto, a small village at the heart of the historic Barolo wine growing area. He was a local primary school teacher, mayor of his village for 36 years, and founder in 1958 of the Terre del Barolo winery, which
still today is the only direct cooperative wine cellar in Barolo. The reasons that led Arnaldo Rivera to envisage a cooperative winery in Barolo are associated with his profound understanding of the particular characteristics of the area and its people, combined with great foresight and a desire for social justice.

The result – In-depth knowledge of the geological origins of the Barolo wine growing area (please visit their website for more information on this!!) plus the very best sites combined with meticulous handling in the winery has resulted in fine wines of the highest quality.
