About Bodega del Abad
The essence of our cultural hallmark is found a few meters from Bodega del Abad: the Carracedo Monastery Founded by Bermudo II “El Gotoso” in the year 990. Restored in the 12th century, it has a succession of architectural styles: Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance. The old medieval monastery inspires one of our great wines: the red Carracedo.
The region of El Bierzo enjoys a special microclimate.
Result of the combination of the Atlantic and continental Mediterranean climates. Berciano’s climate enables an excellent production of fruits and vegetables, as well as a magnificent variety of wines, among which those registered in the Bierzo Denomination of Origin stand out. In El Bierzo we can enjoy an incipient rural tourism based on the beauty of its natural landscapes such as Los Ancares, or created by man such as Las Médulas, a gold mine carried out by the Romans and now declared a World Heritage Site; as well as the Camino de Santiago.
In addition, in El Bierzo you can find some of the most important examples of Mozarabic art, such as the church of Santiago de Peñalba and Santo Tomás de las Ollas. We can also find important examples of all artistic periods: Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque… among its extensive artistic and historical heritage.
L’Atelier by Aramis Vineyards was founded in 2012, dedicated to supplying a hand-selected range of quality wines to the independent on and off trade. From small beginnings we now operate across NSW, QLD, VIC and WA as well as in our home state of South Australia. Our distribution company was founded on our absolute belief that there was nobody better to represent our McLaren Vale brand than our own team. From that point our mission was clear - to bring together a collection of wine that would complement and match the quality of our own, and to present these to premium retail and hospitality trade across Australia. We believe in working collaboratively with carefully selected producers from Australia and beyond, each sharing the same passion and commitment to quality. Inspired by the Ateliers of 19th century Paris, we see ourselves as a meeting place for highly talented craftspeople at the top of their trade. Our portfolio consists of premium boutique wines from across Australia, New Zealand, Italy and Spain, all carefully selected to represent the very essence of their region, but most importantly at approachable price-points. We do not aim to build a trophy cabinet, we believe that you do not have to spend a fortune to drink like a king, and our selection reflects our ability to seek out wines that consistently over-deliver and represent the very best value.
