A tiny production and limited release wine from us.

Sourced from our tiny 0.7ha block of 48-year old Grenache vines, planted in sand on our Rayner Vineyard in McLaren Vale. The lowest-yielding vines were hand-picked, and natural fermentation took place – some in a ceramic egg on skins for 120 days, some with whole bunches and some with whole berries. All done to add layers of complexity to the wine, and to build structure around the beautifully aromatic and pure Grenache fruit.

About Bondar wines

Bondar are a little family wine company run by winemaker Andre Bondar and marketing manager Selina Bondar. Making wines from their favourite regions McLaren vale and Adelaide Hills, their home is the iconic Rayner Vineyard in McLaren Vale. With a philosophy of making wines that are lighter, brighter, more savoury, structured and intriguing, they are definitely the ones to watch.

Chalk Hill Road, McLaren Vale. Our home. Set amongst two hills on the border of the Blewitt Springs and Beautiful View (Seaview) sub-regions just North of the township of McLaren Vale, the Rayner vineyard is one of the better known blocks of the region. Vine plantings date back to the 1950s when the property was owned by the Rayner family, and are made up mostly of what the region does best, Shiraz and Grenache. Straddling Twentyeight road, the eastern side of the road is a huge sandhill, part of the Pirramimma sandstone geology that stretches right through the region. The Shiraz planted here gives lighter wines, with amazing fragrance and a more ‘savoury’ impression. This style is precisely what we are targeting; wines that fit perfectly with our philosophy.
