The territories in the Regional Appellation, although larger than those of the wines in the Village, Premier Cru or Grand Cru appellations, have the same Burgundian origin as them. Like them, they benefit from the same northern climate. They come from the erosion of the same clay-limestone slopes of the vineyard, but rest on richer and deeper soils.

For our Bourgogne Blanc, we have selected plots located in the Clos de la Combe in Puligny-Montrachet, in the village of Corpeau which adjoins that of Puligny-Montrachet, in the Côte de Beaune and in the Mâconnais.

About Camille Giroud Wines

Camille Giroud, a Swiss wine merchant, marries Miss Deschamps and takes over her family’s wine trade firm, which he renamed Maison Giroud Deschamps. In 1903, the company becomes known as Camille Giroud and establishes its premises in Beaune. Unlike other wine merchants, Camille only buys musts and finished wines, relying on his talent as a wine maturer to establish the reputation of his company. After Camille’s death, his youngest son, Lucien, takes over and maintains the family tradition. In the 1990s, the company faces financial difficulties and Bernard and François Giroud begin to buy grapes instead of purchasing wine. David Croix joins the Maison in 2001, launching new projects and building a new vat house. In 2002, Ann Colgin and other investors take over the company, with David Croix named as Manager in 2007. The Maison remains exclusive and pursues new projects under the leadership of Carel Voorhuis.

Chardonnay is a grape variety that belongs to the Noiriens family and is a natural descendant of Pinot Noir crossed with Gouais Blanc. Its motherland is Burgundy, where it was identified in Côte-d’Or Beaunois during the Middle Ages. Chardonnay prefers heavy deep clay soils and is highly expressive when planted between Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet. Over the centuries, growers have selected the best vines, confirming the inseparable trio of grape variety, terroir, and climate. Regional Appellations allow wines to be made from a blend of several locations recognized within the appellation area. Wine merchant-maturers carefully select the best parcels for winemaking according to the vintage. For Bourgogne Blanc, parcels in Clos de la Combe in Puligny-Montrachet, the village of Corpeau, and the Maconnais area have been selected.

Despite the introduction of some modern elements such as new barrels, the winemaking process still incorporates traditional methods such as the use of wooden basket presses and open wooden fermentation vats. The oak treatment is gentle, with only 10-20 percent new wood and minimal racking, allowing each cuvée to have a unique character. The fruit is typically 100% de-stemmed and the wines are bottled without fining or filtering. Camille Giroud Bourgogne Blanc 2020 has a pale yellow colour and a light, oaky, and buttery taste with medium acidity. It is both mineral and floral with hints of pineapple and citrus. This makes it an excellent pairing for a variety of dishes, including shrimp tacos, Dublin Lawyer Lobster, garlic mushrooms and Pollo Milanese. Its versatility and subtle flavours make it a great choice for any meal.
