About Chalari Wines
A childhood rich in Cat Stevens, Greek family traditions, and watching his father watch the world go by are the nostalgic foundations of Chalari Wines. From the Perth Hills to Mt Barker, Alexi followed his love of wine to the Great Southern, and never looked back.
Pressing the first two tonnes of Frankland River Riesling at his home in Roleystone, all by hand and without a forklift in sight, it was the beginning of the end. He was hooked on wine.
These days, Alexi calls Mt Barker in the Great Southern Wine Region home. The shed is bigger, the kids are older, but the wine is just as bold as that first fateful garage vintage.
Sourcing fruit from around Western Australia, he deftly picks his parcels and bottles up a mix of traditional, lo-fi, and downright experimental pours.
Alexi is the all-rounder. Founder, owner, winemaker. You’ll usually find him amongst the barrels and tanks, or building a new winery tool. Music will be playing, rules will be bending, and the family will always be around.
