Château Massereau, situated at Barsac at about 30 kilometres from Bordeaux, was built in the 16th century and acquired by the Chaigneau family in 2000. The estate extends over 19 hectares, 10 planted (6 600 – 7 000 plants/hectare) in the Barsac, Graves and Bordeaux Superieur appellations.
Aged in oak barrel from 12 to 16 months – 20 % new oak.
Farmed honestly, fermented naturally, isn’t fined or filtered, and has a very low SO2 regimen.

Chateau Massereau is a rare Bordeaux gem that has resisted the industrialisation that has swept the appellation. Acquired in 2000 by brothers Jean Francois and Phillipe, the Chateau may be an imposing site on the Barsac landscape but the farming at Massereau is some of the gentlest and most thoughtfully considered in the region.
The brothers have chosen the natural path and work organically in the vineyards with a lo-fi natural approach in the winery. The pair produce red and sweet whites that are authentic, natural wines brimming with life. Look out for their Cuvee Tradition, a brilliant entry to Bordeaux at a handy price point.
