Clos Ibai’s delicious, vibrant Tinto marries Tempranillo (70%) and Graciano (10%) with a very healthy 20% dollop of white fruit―Garnacha Blanca, Viura and Malvasía.

The fruit is sourced from Daniel Frías’s small holdings of 40-year-old vines in the Baños de Ebro and Laguardia regions of Rioja Alavesa. The plots lie at 450 metres in clay/limestone soils, and they are certified organic.

The fruit was harvested by hand and fermented as whole clusters in small open fermenters. The wine was pressed and matured in a combination of steel, concrete and neutral oak for 10 months.

About Clos Ibai

The Clos Ibai winery started as a small project in 2014 in Rioja Alavesa, Spain, and has been known for producing high-quality wines ever since. Over the years, the winery aimed to improve the quality of their grapes and their wines with constant experimentation, organic principles, and adherence to the very best vinification procedures to get the best out of terroir.

Producing terroir wines with character and personality rather than putting millions of bottles on the market.

The Land and The Vines
Clos Ibai makes sure to implement organic and sustainable methods to protect the environment and the health of their vines. Some plots are biodynamic certified and some are in the process of conversion. The vines are diverse ranging from young to some since 1955. The main types of grapes that grow here are Tempranillo, Graciano, Garnacha Tinta, Garnacha Blanca, Viura, Malvasia, and Calagraño. The best grapes are handpicked and taken for further processing with micro vinification to add character and personality. Each stage of production is followed with the utmost care for the wine to give justice to spectacular grapes.

Easily Drinkable and Pleasure Above All
The winery produces surprising wines with notes of wild berries and herbs that can be generalized as fresh and modern-style wines. The wines are aged in stainless steel, French oak barrels, and flex tank eggs depending on the style of wine.

Fine Wine Cellars

On the one hand, our role as a merchant of all things wine & spirits could not be simpler. We aim to source the most delicious, the most authentic, and the highest quality products possible from Australia and around the world in order to offer them to our clients. We live or die by how well we perform this task. Of course things are rarely as simple or as easy as they seem. Hunting for wines & spirits is no different. Apart from the months spent travelling, countless days and evenings spent tasting and the outrageous wine expenditure in the name of ‘research’, sourcing quality wine and spirits requires expertise and experience. Understanding the potential of a producer and their products is much more than just a slurp and a spit.
