Colour: Pale white-gold; clear, bright and engagingly luminescent.

Our Enchanted Garden is a thriving 7 acres Eden Valley Vine Garden. Whole bunches were hand-picked in the first week of March then de-stemmed without crushing the fruit to fill our press exactly.

Juice from the free run was fermented in a small tank between 11 and 13 degrees Celcius. The wine has a high level of natural acidity, low pH and although bone dry, an alcohol of only 11.8%.

This 2022 Enchanted Garden of the Eden Valley Riesling was bottled directly with minimal winemaking artifact to capture the essence of the vineyard, a looking glass if you will, and is ready to drink immediately or cellar for decades.

This wine is suitable for vegans.

Nose:  Fresh! Red apples – both fruit and skin. And musk. Musk in its many guises and forms: sweet, floral, heavy, and powerfully aromatic. Underlying the top notes come citrus and citrus zest, and the blossom of both orange and lime. It seems at one moment too heady, the next too ethereal. It is riesling in the shadows.

Palate: And perhaps because of these beguiling aromatics this wine really does provide quite a lot of wine in the glass. There is a lot going on. Acid line and length act like train tracks along which glide mineral salts and sea asparagus, slate and fresh-running Alpine river water from a glacier’s melt. It is citric and also succulent; the musk qualities return, enmeshed in the acid structure and the wine’s purity and truth.

Drink:  At 11% alcohol here is a wine demanding pre-luncheon attention, from simple charcuterie to home-shucked oysters. Fresh fruits and soft cheeses? Why not. But for every bottle you drink today you ought keep one bottle in your climatecontrolled, internet-ready, dronemonitored, carbon-neutral eco-cellar. For at least 5 years. Then pork rillette with toasted rye bread, on a Monday in very late autumn, in a moment of tranquility.

Five Red Star Winery: James Halliday 2020 Australian Wine Companion
“This is a highly impressive partnership between Peggy and Carl Lindner, Elena and Zar Brooks and Fiona and Brad Rey. It brings together vineyards spread across the Adelaide Hills, Eden Valley, Langhorne Creek, McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley and Fleurieu Peninsula. Elena is not only the beautiful wife of industry dilettante Zar Brooks, but also an exceptionally gifted winemaker. It may be a dauntingly competitive marketplace, but there can be few more promising new ventures than this one.”

Gourmet Traveller Wine 2010 Best of the Best Nick Ryan
“Brooks has teamed up with his winemaking wife Elena, a woman whose talents are outweighed only by her tolerance, in an exciting new venture called Dandelion Vineyards. The approach is remarkably simple and sees Elena making wine from a suite of beautiful old vineyards identified by Carl Lindner and Brad Rey across that blessed curve that runs from the Barossa, up through the Eden Valley and Adelaide Hills and down into McLaren Vale. The result is a line-up of wines that show the best in dedicated viticulture and sensitive winemaking, abandoning clutter and artifice for purity and poise.”
