Description
Back in the 1980’s I planted grapes on selected sites of the family grazing property on the ‘Belford Dome’ an ancient geological formation with two distinct and unique soils. The deep sandy loams by the creek flats are ideal for Semillon and Chardonnay while classic Hunter shiraz thrives on the nearby slopes moulded from red clay over weathered limestone. The grapes from these low-yielding distinguished site vineyards are hand-picked and traditionally vinified to produce this prestige selection, only released in exceptional years.
The wine is pale gold in colour with youthful green tinges. The aroma is intense with a complex bouquet of citrus and peach fruit characters. Barrel fermentation adding charred oak and cashew nut to the nose and palate. The flavours of stone fruit and lemon zest are sustained with fresh acid and toasty oak in a rich well structured wine.
Cellaring: 2 – 4 years
