This juicy, bistro-friendly blend of 80% Montepulciano and 20% Aglianico comes by the hand of Alessio Di Majo, the ‘lone wolf’ of Molise (an obscure, easily-overlooked D.O.C sandwiched between the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea). Founded in the late ’60s, this organic estate has been the pacesetter in this beautiful, rugged part of Italy for some years. This wild-fruited, spicy rosato is a fairly recent addition to the line up and we could not say no. It offers a generous, plump texture with sweet/savoury aromas and flavours of red berries, cherries, almond paste and fresh herbs along with zesty, vibrant acidity. Screams out for charcuterie.

About Di Majo Norante Wines

Di Majo Norante has been producing wines from its own grapes since the 1800s, as evidenced by the cellars under the square and in the old family palace in Campomarino. The dedication to the cultivation of the vine is inherited from Alessio di Majo Norante and is planned today together with the passion for research and experimentation. Di Majo Norante produces its wines exclusively from the 123 hectares of the ancient feud of the Marquises Norante of Santa Cristina.

The oenological philosophy of the Di Majo Norante company respects the traditional approach to the cultivation of the vine and the production of wine, in an attempt to preserve all the characteristics of the Mediterranean grapes.

In the Molise region, wine has traditions dating back to the Sannites and Romans, the first to introduce grape growing. Production methods are those passed down through the generations in the southern Apennines, constantly tied to the farming world. The Masseria Di Majo Norante is located north of the Gargano promontory in the district of Ramitello, in the countryside of Campomarino, where the loose, partially sandy soil and summer breezes combine to create a particularly favourable environment. Alessio Di Majo, a determined and somewhat innovative wine-maker, sacrificed productivity and uniformity of flavour in a constant quest for quality and distinctive characteristics, in the firm conviction that southern vines are the best suited to the pedoclimatic conditions of the Molise countryside.

Fine Wine Cellars

On the one hand, our role as a merchant of all things wine & spirits could not be simpler. We aim to source the most delicious, the most authentic, and the highest quality products possible from Australia and around the world in order to offer them to our clients. We live or die by how well we perform this task. Of course things are rarely as simple or as easy as they seem. Hunting for wines & spirits is no different. Apart from the months spent travelling, countless days and evenings spent tasting and the outrageous wine expenditure in the name of ‘research’, sourcing quality wine and spirits requires expertise and experience. Understanding the potential of a producer and their products is much more than just a slurp and a spit.
