AUSTRALIA WIDE SHIPPING INCLUDED
Sourced from the prized central hill of our estate, this wine has dark berry fruit with infinite length and structure and is built to beguile and age gracefully.
Appearance: dark deep magenta with ruby edges.
Aroma: cassis, red and black currant, black cherry, dark chocolate, black truffle, coffee beans, forest floor brooding, intense violets and lavender, toasted oat, graphite.
Palate: brooding elements of dark cherry, cassis, bright black currants, forest floor and bramble, savoury dark chocolate, and fire hearth; tannins are powerful yet finely structured giving great length and completeness; slight sappiness, raspberry cane, brooding an unfurling with cocoa powder; fleshy, fresh tobacco with hints of licorice; old school Bordeaux-like characters and complexity, built to age, with classic elegance and power.
94 points, Halliday Wine Companion
From a distinct plot in Duke’s estate vineyard. This has good concentration, palate-staining resonance and a general sense of high drinkability. Scents of clove and pipe tobacco over cassis and lavender, the palate more fruit driven, plummy, but with brined black olive and more clove spice in play. Sits at medium weight, cruises along gently and feels almost refreshing in a way. Elegant and understated; very good are the words.

About Duke’s Vineyard
Duke’s Vineyard is an award-winning, ten-hectare vineyard in the cool-climate Great Southern wine region of Western Australia producing dry Rieslings, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. The vineyard is a unique site that sits at the feet of the ancient granite Porongurup peaks and has views of the Stirling Range to the north. It is characterised by warm ripening days and cooler nights tempered with maritime breezes.
Duke and Hilde Ranson established the vineyard in 1999 and proceeded to garner many top wine awards including the Halliday Wine of the Year in 2019 for the 2017 Magpie Hill Reserve Riesling.
In 2022, they retired and handed the business to Winemaker Ben Cane and his partner, Sarah Date. Duke and Ben share the same passion to make beautiful wines from an exceptional terroir; have the same appreciation for cool climate wines; and like to have a lot of fun in the process of making, enjoying, and selling wine.
Duke’s Vineyard is a family-owned, boutique winery that has achieved many outstanding accolades over a 20+ year history including being awarded Best Australian Wine of the Year in 2019 for the 2017 Magpie Hill Reserve Riesling by James Halliday’s Wine Companion. Located in the Porongurup subregion—the smallest and most elevated of the Great Southern zones—we are designated a Top 100 Winery in Huon Hooke’s TheReal Review and were awarded Best Riesling of WA for the 2022 Magpie Hill Reserve Riesling by Ray Jordan.
A new chapter is being written under the stewardship of Ben Cane and Sarah Date. In 2022, Duke Ranson—the visionary founder—entrusted the legacy of his vineyard to this passionate and accomplished duo. Duke recognised in Ben a kindred spirit: a winemaker committed to minimal intervention, sustainable farming, and excellence in every detail.
