Litchi aromas are the initial thought followed by a touch of kiwi fruit; fresh vibrant. Lime and citrus notes hit the palate with a very subtle saline finish. Crunchy acidity! As this wine is lower in alcohol with super fresh vibrancy, it makes for the perfect summer lunchtime wine. Drinks fabulously now, but we believe this wine has great aging potential.

The name Tashón is a tribute to good friends and great times!

About Edan Wines

EDAN WINES was born in 2020 through a shared love of using traditional techniques to make exceptional wine.

Ashton Edward Hendriks and Carla Anne Botha (ED.AN is a combination of their middle names) met in Mudgee in 2017 where they were both working for the same wine company. Ashton and Carla both hail from well-known winemaking countries; Ashton from New Zealand and Carla from South Africa and despite being from different continents their meeting in Mudgee marks the beginning of a fruitful partnership.

Sourcing grapes from around the Central West of NSW they both have a similar approach to winemaking where less is more, wines are unfiltered, native yeasts are used wherever possible and their Sauvignon Blanc is moved only by gravity.

Our philosophy is to make wines that are natural (as much as possible without compromising taste) and our customers know and love this about us. We use simple and traditional wine making methods which requires vigilance and attention. We treat our barrels like a baby, we have even been known to sleep with the wine to make sure we are there at the right moment in the fermentation process to bring you the best tasting wine!

Carla says, “although neither of us came from wine making family backgrounds, both our parents taught us how to enjoy and appreciate good wine. Sitting around the dinner table enjoying a beautiful bottle together as a family is where it all started for both of us. We have both worked in wineries all over the world from South Africa to North America, France, Italy, New Zealand and Australia collectively and worked for many different employers, but something about doing it for yourself, knowing you have full control and it’s all up to you to make the best decisions possible, is very exhilarating and exciting.“

Ashton adds “working with so many winemakers across the world we have learnt many different styles and methods of creating wine – every vintner has their own unique flair like an artist and we have been so privileged to learn from so many great wine creators. Our dream is to own our own vineyard with an emphasis on organics and biodynamics.”

Right now, everything EDAN WINES make goes straight back into making this dream a reality.

Wine is in our DNA and even if we don’t come from heritage wine growing families, we plan on beginning the legacy now!
