This is one of the most complex and challenging wines in this section. Beautiful, profound and incredibly refined, the fruit is tense and dark, introverted and cool, with tremendous, rousing mineral notes. Given the power, control and definition of the tannin structure, this will be a very long-lived wine. Matthew Jukes (100 Best Australian Wines)
“Ahh, there it is. I opened the Ebenezer Shiraz first and thought it was a bit mono-dimensional, but this is flash and much more complex. Sourced from the Hoffmann family’s 70yo vineyard, the fruit spends 18 months in 50% new French oak. Dark, layered, oak and fruit-rich, it’s wonderfully lavish Barossan red with all the trimmings. Never too oaky, never too much fruit, it’s hedonistic in a ‘right’ way that contemporaries like Dan Standish do so well. “

“Just a mention of the Hoffman vineyard in Ebenezer is enough to make many Barossa fans get a little excited. Fruit from this vineyard is taken by Rockford & Chris Ringland and is very highly regarded. It comes together beautifully on the palate with excellent concentration of sweet fruit but still retains its savoury feel thanks to red earthy tones. Fruit is long, pure and balanced providing superb drinkability over the next decade and more.”

Eisenstone Wines
Celebrating the rich German heritage of the Barossa Valley, the name Eisenstone comes from a blend of the German word for iron – Eisen and the English – Stone.
Our name celebrates the Ironstone soils in which the vines grow and the stone used by the original German settlers to build much of the famous Barossa buildings that still stand to this very day.
Our aim is to establish ourselves as specialists of Barossa Valley shiraz, the icon variety of the Barossa Valley which is recognised worldwide.
Within the Valley there are a number of recognised sub regions that vary in climate and soil type and bring out subtle differences in the variety.
Eisenstone creator and winemaker Stephen Cook secures special parcels of grapes from the ‘western ranges’ of the famous Barossa Valley which are renowned for producing fuller bodied, powerful wines with amazing depth of flavour and exceptional aging ability to make his wines released under the Eisenstone label.
Limited volumes of each wine are produced in any given vintage, each individually numbered.
