“This is routinely a – if not the – greatest chardonnay in the Great Southern region. It is sensational. The high acid is folded into layers of voluminous citrus and stone fruit, and the crushed curry-leaf character is pleasingly pervasive throughout all of the Forest Hill chardonnays. It manages lean and taut , concentrated and savoury, although it may need a year or 2 for the acid to settle into the fruit succinctly. Superb.” – Erin Larkin, Wine Companion

Bright straw. Complex array of white nectarine, and pink grapefuit with hints of flint. Stonefruit, citrus and cashew flavours persist on the palate. A Powerful mineral finish driven by natural acidity.

The top rows (1-14) of Block 8 were hand harvested over two days. The whole bunch grapes were chilled overnight before hand-sorting and pressing. The small amount of free run was pressed to French Oak barriques, Hogsheads and puncheon (~23% new) for fermentation with wild yeast.

Fermentation was held at cool temperatures to retain as much of the natural freshness as possible. Once alcoholic fermentation was completed, some barrels had a short period of stirring, and only small amounts natural malolactic fermentation. After 10 months in barrel, the wine was blende and bottled.
