This fortified wine displays colour tones of indigo and violets. The nose shows intense spicy raisin, ripe black currant aromas, developing into cherries and rich, dark fruits. The palate is overwhelmed by layers of liquorice, textural tannins and mouth-filling blackberry fruit flavours. This wine has extraordinary drinkability and is robust enough for maturation for an eternity.

Excellent with quince paste, a wide variety of cheeses – including soft rind, Cheddar, blue, goats and ricotta, and with nuts such as pistachios, walnuts, almonds and brazil nuts.

About Gapsted Wines

Gapsted Wines is an Australian family-owned winery, located near Myrtleford in Victoria’s High Country, established in 1996.

The winery is the outcome of six wine families seeing the potential of producing high quality cool climate wines from the Alpine and King Valleys. The families were influential in the region either as grape growers, winemakers or business owners and saw the benefits of overseeing the product quality from grapevine to bottle.

Today Gapsted Wines produce a large range of distinctive wines from the mainstream to the emerging grape varieties. The Italian community in the region has had a significant influence on the grapes grown, leading the Australian wine industry in the development of wine styles such as Prosecco, Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese, Fiano and Barbera.

Gapsted Wines is a prominent tourist destination within Victoria’s High Country. While our wines are a key reason why many people visit us, this is supplemented by what our cellar door and restaurant showcase.
