Grosset Gaia from the cooler 2022 vintage shows impressive generosity and balance – the hallmarks of this wine for more than three decades. There’s a brooding quality about the wine that demands close inspection.

It is satiny smooth, tight and fine, but displaying its bright blackcurrant, dark liqueur cherry, blackberry, bramble flavours that are deep, satisfying and long.

Tyson Stelzer, WBM 97 Points
This exposed and extreme site in the upper reaches of Clare is characterised by Cabernet of concentration, varietal precision, structural confidence and grand longevity, and the cool 2022 season has only served to amplify all four dimensions. The depth and definition of crunchy blackcurrant and cassis fruit is monumental, and it is blessed with all the mineral-fine tannin, vibrant acidity and profound persistence to endure exceedingly long indeed. the essence of Cabernet, and of Gaia!

Description

Grosset Wines is an independently owned winery producing eight highly regarded premium wines and one spirit, each vintage.

“We aim to produce the best examples of variety and place. This is self-explanatory really; riesling from the Clare Valley, expressing the dramatic differences between soft rock and hard rock sites and then differences within those broad categories; uniquely sited semillon and fiano, cabernet from the coolest site in the region and of course, chardonnay and pinot noir from an even cooler sub-region of the Adelaide Hills. Purity of fruit and optimum ripeness are crucial to us, and we are not afraid to use different wine making approaches to bring the best out of each vineyard. Each is a testament to this philosophy.” Jeffrey Grosset.

Jeffrey Grosset, owner and founder was voted the inaugural Australian Winemaker of the Year by Gourmet Traveller Wine in 1998 and is internationally recognised as one of the ‘Top 10 White Winemakers’ (Decanter, UK) and one of the ’50 Most Influential Winemakers’ (Wine & Spirit, USA) in the world today.

Fine Wine Cellars

On the one hand, our role as a merchant of all things wine & spirits could not be simpler. We aim to source the most delicious, the most authentic, and the highest quality products possible from Australia and around the world in order to offer them to our clients. We live or die by how well we perform this task. Of course things are rarely as simple or as easy as they seem. Hunting for wines & spirits is no different. Apart from the months spent travelling, countless days and evenings spent tasting and the outrageous wine expenditure in the name of ‘research’, sourcing quality wine and spirits requires expertise and experience. Understanding the potential of a producer and their products is much more than just a slurp and a spit.
