This is a delight! It is fresh, bright, vibrant, complex and intense – in a word ‘exhuberant’. There’s ripe white peach, nectarine and honeydew melon flavours and, while the fruit is dominant, even expressive, there’s an oak grip especially on the finish. More generous due in part to the inclusion of a new clone, it remains a pristine example of chardonnay grown in the ultra-cool Piccadilly Valley. While very satisfying young, the wine is expected to age beautifully for at least ten years.

Only 1,800 bottles (150 dozen)

Grown in the Piccadilly Valley, Adelaide Hills Barrel fermented exclusively in French oak barriques (40% new) for 10 months; only partial natural malolactic fermentation

No finings used – suitable for vegans and vegetarians

Huon Hooke – The Real Review. 96 Points
Light, bright lemon-yellow colour and a subtle, reserved bouquet of lemon, almond, honey and subtle smoky, buttery croissant overtones. The wine is refined and intense in the mouth, with a winning combination of drive and subtlety. The line and length are impeccable and it promises to reward cellaring. Delicious now, too. 08 FEB 2024

About Grosset Wines

Grosset Wines is a small family-run operation entering its fifth decade. The unwavering vision is to create pure expressions of variety and place. Our four estate-owned vineyards, A-Grade Certified Organic and Biodynamic (ACO), are located in high altitude country of the Clare Valley, each site selected for its potential to produce great wine and planted by Grosset. Each is handpicked and hand pruned; each bunch of grapes harvested at optimum ripeness.

Production is tiny. Single vineyard wines are the focus. The winemaking process is gentle and uncomplicated. Custodianship remains with Grosset Wines from grape growing to in-house bottling; authenticity is assured.

Accolades? In August 2017, James Halliday awarded Grosset Wines ‘Australia’s 2018 Best Value Winery’. That same year Grosset made the Wine and Spirits (USA) World’s Top 100 Wineries list. Founder Jeffrey Grosset was voted inaugural Australian Winemaker of the Year by Gourmet Traveller WINE in 1998, is internationally recognised as one of Decanter UK’s ‘Top 10 White Winemakers’ and one of the ‘50 Most Influential Winemakers’ (Wine & Spirits, USA) in the world today.
