Black and blue fruits drive the aroma initially in this Sonoma Coast Syrah, with slight gamy characters, garrigue, blond tobacco and lilac aromas. Tasting the wine one finds ripe blueberry and black currant flavors, and tannins that express the wine’s mountaintop sourcing. This dense and spicy Syrah was crafted in a style reminiscent of the great wines of the Northern Rhone Valley

Our Outer Limits™ Vineyard Syrah comes from an estate vineyard site, located on a windswept ridge area near Annapolis. The vineyard, which also is the source of our Far Coast Chardonnay and Pinot Noir bottlings, is a very cool site surrounded by redwood forests, over an hour north of the Russian River. This Sonoma Coast mountain ridge is four miles from the Pacific Ocian at 900 feet elevation. The soils are the Goldridge series on top of older volcanic bedrock, which drives a balance between fruit, complexity, and structure.

About Hartford Family Wines

Based in the Russian River Valley Hartford Family wines was started in the mid 90’s with a focus on locating the best vineyard sites around California to produce the finest Chardonnay & Pinot Noir. The Hartford family still runs the venture with patriarch Don and Wife Jennifer still at the helm. Whilst producing a number of single site wines the brand has become famous for its ‘Russian River Series’ that beautifully encapsulates the region by sourcing from a number of incredible vineyards. Located in the Sonoma County town of Forestville, the winery is about 15 miles from the cool Pacific Coast.

SUSTAINABILITY
The Hartford family have invested heavily in the Californian wine industry working closely with
growers to ensure only the best fruit is produced. This includes utilising organic vineyard inputs, monitoring soil health and reducing water usage. All wines are vegan and made with the approach that the work is very much done in the vineyard.
