Aromas of bright raspberry, red sour cherry, bramble bushand a touch of cinnamon oak. Precise and bright palate, the hall marks of 2021, with raspberry fruit and a graphite savouriness. Oak plays a supporting role for a wine that will age gracefully over the next few years.

The fruit for In Dreams Pinot Noir is selected from vineyards spanning from the cool, high-altitude vineyards of Seville in the Upper Yarra and St Andrews in the far north-west of the region, complimented by fruit from Coldstream and Dixons Creek on the Valley floor. Altitudes vary from 130m above sea level to 240m and soil types include both red volcanic loams and grey clay loams overlying mudstone. Clonal components of Abel, MV6, 114 and 115 are the building blocks of our In Dreams Pinot Noir.

About In Dreams Wines

Most of our grapes come from the cool-climate vineyards of the Upper Yarra for their minerality and vibrancy, and we compliment the blend with smaller parcels from the slightly warmer vineyards on the valley floor for their plush, fruity character. For us, it’s all about balance and purity of fruit.

In the winery we take more of a hands-off approach, as we prefer the fruit to take centre-stage rather than the winemaker’s touch. Handpicking in the vineyard, using minimal new oak, and bottling the wines unfined are are just a few of the techniques we use to help show off the quality of fruit.

Anthony’s journey down the wine rabbit hole began rather unexpectedly when he discovered that unlike a cold can of beer, a bottle of wine remained untouched by sticky fingers in the communal eski at BBQs; a light bulb went off and eventually a new career ensued!

Anthony grew up in Wollongong, NSW, so when he completed his studies at Charles Sturt University, he naturally gravitated toward the Hunter Valley to begin his career in winemaking and worked his first proper vintage in 2002 with Mount Pleasant.

Fast-forward a few years, and an opportunity arose for him to work vintage in the Yarra Valley and pursue his passion for cool-climate wine. Since then, Anthony has worked for a string of great producers including Giant Steps, Mac Forbes and Medhurst, as well as working the odd vintage in Burgundy, Piedmont and Baden.
